Les Maisons Rouges, 2020 Coteaux du Loir “Les Perrons” (Chenin Blanc)

100% Chenin. This cuvée is produced from the fruit of 4 different parcels situated at the top of the slope and have identical soils rich in “perrons”, or masses of flint rock. The soil is composed of sandy loam with 80-90% flint and quartz on the surface and 40% on average in the subsoil. This excessively stony terroir combined with drying ventilation is ideal for the Coteaux du Loir white wines harvested from young vines., around 10-20 years old. Harvested manually in mid-October into boxes. Fermentation and aging takes place in oak barrels for 13 months. The winemakers use indigenous yeasts, and use no added sulfites when bottling. This wine is unfiltered.
