DOMAINE LAJIBE

Jean-Baptiste Semmartin is part of a new generation of winemakers trying to redefine Jurancon. The new vigneron behind Domaine Lajibe was a sportsman in a past life, representing France on its national fencing team. He fell into wine from there, first making wine in Bordeaux, then in Collioure and finally in Burgundy where he worked during 3.5 years with biodynamic pioneer, Emmanuel Giboulot. His old vineyards planted with Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, Courbu and Claverie were certified Organic in 2010 and Biodynamic in 2019. He makes three different single parcel cuvées : two bone dry whites. (Haure and Carmeret) and one dessert wine (Serres-Seques) with a natural winemaking approach (native yeast, long elevage in neutral wood) delivering chiseled and mouth watering wines. He, for sure, is a rising star of the appellation.
